You can start using the Opentrader demo account by simply entering your name, email address and setting a password on the sign-up page. From there, to trade for real, you can choose to open a full Opentrader account.

Check you’re living in a country on our list 🌎
Before starting your application, make sure the country you’re living in is included in our serviced countries list.
Once signed into your demo account, simply hit “Open Account” at the top of the page to kick off the application process. Select “International” and download the relevant form, depending on the type of account you’d like
Please print the form, complete it with a pen, and post it to us (our address is at the bottom of the article), along with copies of the ID detailed below.

Verifying your ID
To make sure your account is opened safely, we verify ID using digital verification services, Green ID and Equifax.
We’ll need you to send us certified copies of the following ID information:
- International Passport
- International Driver’s Licence or National ID card
If neither of the above contain your residential address, then we’ll also need:
- A utility bill (water, gas, electric) from the previous 3 months
Sometimes, there may be a mismatch between the information you’ve given us and the information that’s on the database we verify against. If this happens, we’ll get in touch to ask you for some different ID / documentation to get your account sorted.
All documentation must be certified and translated into English
Carefully review our approved certifiers list and make sure that certification is within the last 3 months.

If your ID documents are in a language other than English, you’ll also need to have the documents translated by a NAATI recognised translator.
HINs (Holder Identification Numbers)
The “CHESS Sponsorship & Settlement” section is where you can choose to transfer an existing HIN and holdings to Opentrader. If you’d like to do this, just complete the “Transfer existing HIN” section with the details of your existing HIN / holdings with the other broker. Or, you can choose to create a new HIN.
Linked cash account 💰
We use the linked cash account to settle your trades with Opentrader. The cash accounts are integrated with Opentrader, which allows for a pretty slick trading experience ⚡️
We use approved provider, ANZ - we’ll create an account for you when you sign up to Opentrader.
Post your application 📮
We know that it takes a while to send us your application in the mail. We’re working on streamlining the process so you can apply for an international account online.
In the meantime, we’re happy to help review your application via email (firstname.lastname@example.org) before you send it to us. We can let you know if it all looks good to go and answer any questions you have.

The account opening fee is $200 AUD
There’s an international account opening fee of $200 (AUD). This includes setting up the Opentrader ANZ Cashactive bank account. We’ll send you an invoice via email once we’ve received your application. Once you pay the fee, we’ll be able to open your account.
And you’re done! 🎉
We’ll email you with all your Opentrader and cash account details. This should be about 3-4 business days after we’ve received your account opening payment.
