How broker-to-broker HIN & Holdings transfers work?
Moving securities from one broker (or custodian) to another requires us to instruct that broker to initiate the transfer on your behalf. Once the securities have been delivered to Opentrader your holdings will be updated and you will need to update your Average Price.
How long do HIN & Holding transfers take?
Provided your signature can be verified against your ID, your form is printed & signed with an ink pen and you have no open buy/sell orders, it is typically completed within 2-3 working days.
It takes 1 extra day for us to link & welcome you to the platform if your linked cash account is active.
What if my HIN is already on Opentrader PID 1137?
HINs already on our PID cannot be transferred internally. For HINs already on Opentrader PID 1137 via an intermediary please select "New HIN" on your application and you could consider a stock transfer (no cost in the same name).
Does my ID need to be certified?
No, unless you are transferring your HIN from CommSec PID 1402 - that is a requirement of theirs.
Is there a fee to Transfer my HIN &/or Holdings to OpenTrader?
No
Other transfers types:
Issuer Sponsored Holding Transfers
If you wish to transfer holdings that are sponsored with a share registry (i.e. not attached to a broker sponsored HIN) see this article: How do I transfer my Issuer Sponsored Holdings to Opentrader?
Off-Market Transfers
If you wish to transfer holdings in the name of one entity to another, or one person to another, you'll need to complete an Off Market Transfer form.
Please note: There is a charge associated with Off-Market Transfers of $27.50 per transfer.
